WEST RIDING SENIOR CUP

The destination of the West Riding Senior Cup, which Leeds United have held for the past four years, has still to be decided this season. A crowd of nearly 9,000 at Valley Parade on Monday saw Bradford City force a replay in the last half-minute of the final after United had held a 2-0 half-time lead. The replay will be under the Elland Road floodlights on Monday 9th December, if City are free from any F.A. Cup commitments after their tie at Chester on Saturday 7th December 1957.

In an entertaining game the promoted Central League men, Francis and Stanley, both gave good account of themselves and our forward line played to far better purpose than in recent games. After twenty-seven minutes Crowe opened the scoring with a remarkable twenty-five yard shot after Cush and Baird had got the ball through to him. Twelve minutes later Baird added a second goal after Francis had won the ball on the half-way line and had taken it through to the penalty area in a fine dribble. There were other shots from Baird, Crowe, Francis and Cush that all went near in the first half, but in the second half City staged a strong rally and after sixty-seven mimutes Bobby Webb, the former United player, reduced the arrears. Half a minute from time, when a win for United appeared to be on the cards, Marshall chased a back-pass from Baird and Wood lost a grip on the ball to enable the City inside man to equalise.
